2011 has seen Mark McCabe doing the rounds through the UK and Europe, playing shows with PJ Bond, Chris T-T and Frank Turner. It’s been a pretty mad year for our young Scottish friend who is now back in Aberdeen after a couple of years spent writing music, living and “working” in Paris; and to cap it off we wanted to put the Tour EP, previously only available at shows, up for ‘Pay What You Want Download’ with all proceeds going to the housing and homelessness charity Shelter.
The EP itself includes live recordings from Mark’s show at B552 in Vienna with Frank Turner, alternate versions of previously released tracks and demo versions of previously unreleased tracks ‘My Disguise is Better Than Yours’, ‘Your Own Masterpiece’ and ‘Another Day’. As for the charity selection, the issue of homelessness is one that has always struck a chord with Mark and us at BOI and so any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Almost 70,000 children will wake up on Christmas Day in temporary accommodation, without a home to call their own; and there are many, many more people who will be in similar situations or worse this Christmas and indeed for every other day of the year. www.shelter.org.uk
